How do I access my LiveOnline class?
There are two ways most students access their LiveOnline classes:
1) Choose your department or program from the dropdown list at the top of the LiveOnline@UT homepage. This will take you to the login page for your department. If your department is not listed, choose the department or program of the course you are taking from the list. Log in using your LiveOnline/Centra login and password. Your course(s) should appear on your Schedule page after you log in. Click Attend under the class event you would like to attend.
2) Alternately, your instructor may link to your LiveOnline class sessions from your Online@UT (Blackboard) course site. In that case, you will need your email address to log in to the class.
What are my LiveOnline login and password?
In the past, logins/passwords were sent via email to students in LiveOnline/Centra courses. However, many of these emails were caught by spam filters or bounced due to full inboxes. If you have a login/password from prior LiveOnline/Centra courses, use that information to log in. If you do not have that information or do not remember it, go to the login page for your department/program and click the "Forget your password?" link to retrieve your password. Your login is your NetID. By default, the email address used will be your @utk.edu account.
Note: The LiveOnline@UT server is not currently tied into the LDAP system. Although your login is your NetID, your password will probably be different from your LDAP password and does not automatically change when you update your LDAP password. New accounts are created approximately one week before every semester.
Why doesn't my class appear on my LiveOnline Schedule page?
Sometimes there is a delay of several hours to a day or more for roll updates. If your missing class is meeting that day and it does not appear on your Schedule, please call our office (974-3117 or 1-877-974-3117) and we will manually add you for that class for that day.
How do I change my name in the classroom window?
The name in the participant list in the classroom window is pulled from
your LiveOnline@UT/Centra profile. To change what appears in the participant
list, click on the My Profile link on your Schedule page and change the
Display Name field. Remember to submit your changes when you're done. The
next time you launch the classroom window, it will pull your new Display
name.
How can I change my password?
You may change your LiveOnline@UT/Centra password. In fact, you are strongly
encouraged to use something other than the default password assigned to
you when your account is created. LiveOnline@UT is not tied into the LDAP
database that manages passwords for most UT access. The good news is that
your LiveOnline@UT password does not expire. The bad news is that it does
not synch up with the rest of your UT passwords when you change your LDAP
(email, library access, etc) password every 180 days.
You change your password under My Profile on your Schedule page. Be sure
to type your password in both fields and submit your changes. The next time
you log in to LiveOnline@UT, you will need to use your new password.
If you ever forget your password, you can retrieve it via the "Forget
your password?" link on the login page.
What hours is LiveOnline@UT/Centra support available?
LiveOnline@UT/Centra support observes extended support hours when classes are in session. Generally support technicians are available via telephone from 8am until approximately 9pm, Monday through Thursday, 8am until 5pm, Friday and 8am-12pm most Saturdays. Support hours may vary between semesters when classes are not in session.

Test Flights
Test Flights give you the opportunity to log in and test your system for LiveOnline/Centra class before the semester begins. You will need to attach speakers and a microphone to your computer to fully test your in-class audio. Test Flight dates and times are announced on the LiveOnline@UT homepage a week or two before each semester starts. To attend a Test Flight, you will normally:
1) Go to the LiveOnline@UT homepage and look for a link to the Test Flight from the announcements.
2) Enter your email address when prompted and click Attend. You may be asked for your first, last, and display name (what you would like to be called in class). Enter those if prompted and click Attend.
3) When the classroom window launches (this may take a few minutes), the Centra Audio Wizard will open on top of the classroom window. Follow the instructions to test your audio. A tutorial on the
Audio Wizard ais available.
4) A technical support person who is monitoring the session will greet you. Other people may be in the room before you so please be patient and you will be acknowledged. You will be asked if you can hear and speak in session and then given time to play with the various buttons available to students in the classroom interface. You are free to log out (close out the window) when you like.
5) If you have any questions or problems during the Test Flight, support personnel are available via telephone (865.974.3117 or 1.877.974.3117) to assist you.
